Rabbi Simon Harris read Hebrew at SOAS followed by six years studying in Israel. Rabbi Harris was ordained by, among others, the then Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Yitzchak Kolitz, Zatzal.
Rabbi Harris more latterly obtained a Masters degree in Oriental Studies from Oxford. Rabbi Harris has also served as a Research Fellow in the Hebrew & Jewish Studies Department at University College, London. The project was a Literary & Linguistic Analysis of Zoharic Aramaic. Rabbi Harris is also occupied with post-graduate research focused on the Redaction of the Babylonian Talmud.
Apart from our rabbi’s academic interests Rabbi Harris’s two main religious commitments, aside from carrying out all his contractual obligations to our community, is Pastoral Care & Jewish Education. Although both these areas are naturally covered by our Rabbi’s job specification, Rabbi Harris’s position is part-time at Wembley, which allows him the scope and time to dedicate himself to more in these two vital areas.
